Conversion Bus Insurance Darren 2-11-06
I've talked with two insurance companies that require conversions to have been done by a licensed contractor. Are there insurance companies that will insure my bus/motorhome if I do it myself and am not a contractor?
Re: Conversion Bus Insurance Edward 2-16-06
Darren, I just purchased insurance from Progressive Insurance. Maybe your issue is the wrong terms. I first called it a bus ex-commercial big rig 28,000lbs. Wow that quote hurt. We talked about it and They didn't care what the chassis WAS it's now just a "privately owned RV". On that no more mention of the fact that it was a bus, it's now an RV and quite a bit less costly than my mini-van insurance. The age of the vehicle is applied too, that helped for me. I recieved full coverage plus RV roadside assistance for less than $400yr. I also live in MT. Your quote will be different. Hope this helps.

I didn't have much trouble getting insurance on a Bluebird conversion from GMAC. I think it was GoodSam that connected me. Might need to check with the DMV in your state to see how they feel about out of state insurance. It's a big mistake putting very much into a school bus conversion btw.

Or stop paying someone elses mortgage and live greasetrap to greasetrap runnin veggie oil. In Oregon I recommend Gwen Van Zanten with Progressive. Best rates ever

Progressive was half price of GMAC for a 1964 silver eagle conv. GEICO would not insure.
