Atwood furnace trouble! Gavin 10-23-08
We recently purchased a 1998 Dutchamn trailer. It hase an 8500 model furnace. We could not get the furnace to turn on at all. Then I discovered a red wire unplugged from it. Upon plugging it in it turned on full power. Heres where my probelm starts. The furnace wont turn off. I'm guessing the previous owners had the same problem which is why the wire was unplugged. We have replaced the relay switch and the problem is the same. The thermostat seems to have no control over the furnace at all being that it can be off and the temp turned all the way down and still the blower is running at full speed with hot air coming out.

What do I do?!?!
Re: Atwood furnace trouble! Keith 10-23-08
Hi Gavin, Try removing the thermostat from the loop. It is basically an on and off switch. If there are only two wires on the back of the therm', disconnect them. If this stops the furnace, hold the wires together for a minute or so and see if the furnace runs and shuts down when you separate them. If it does the thermostat is your problem. Another possibility is someone has miswired the furnace after trying to "fix" something. Hope this helps. Good luck!
