Carborated intake conversion from 4.3 chevy fuel injection greg malone 9-17-08
I have a 1983 jep cj-7 i am doing an engine swap. i have a freshly built 1991 chevy 4.3 fuel injected engine to put in it's place. only thing is, i want to eliminate all electronic fi by installing a 4.3 intake which is 4 barrel carborated. How hard is this to do besides changing out intakes?

I converted a Olds 350 in a 78 Cad. Seville (the stndard engine) from fuel injection to carb. The fuel injection was made by Bendix and even the local Cad people could only change parts and hope it would fix the problem.

Changed out the intake manifold, removed all the fuel injection stuff, including the frame mounted fuel pump. Installed an aftermarket fuel pump for a carb engine (fuel injection pump was 39psi). I disconnected the in tank boost pump but had to hook it back up for the engine to run above idle speed.

Results were satisfactory. Miles per gal. dropped and engine had to warmed up to almost normal running temperature before it would accelerate smoothly.

That is my experience for what it is worth.

John
