Motor Home fuel problem RJD 9-15-08
Hello everyone I need help on a problem I am having with my motorhome. Purchased M/H with only 8000 miles on it. Ran perfect for a year. Let my daughter and son-in-law use it for Vacation. To make a long story short he ran the motorhome out of gas. Called a tow truck. Gas was put into tank but M/H was missing and did not have power to run on its on. M/H was towed to a local garage where the garage installed new fuel pump and filter. M/H started right up but within 60 miles motor lost power again missing no power to pull hills. Let M/H set for 5 minutes M/H started right up and ran approx 50 miles same problem. Had a local mechenic look at motor home and he put a fuel pump pressure gauge and took it for a spin. After approx 50 miles pump presurre went from 50 lbs down to 5 pounds and motor bogged down again. Let vehicle set for 5 minutes it started right up again. After 50 more miles same thing again. Took vehicle back to garage and pulled tank off again. Full filter in tank appeared to have trash in it. Removed tank had it cleaned and seal coated. Reinstalled tank put new gas in tank. M/H started right up. Again ran it 40 to 50 miles same problem. Note, before the motor home was lent to my son-in law and he ran out of gas, vehicle had never given any problem with stalling. Vehicle i a Prusuit witn a chevy 454 motor 2000 year model. Need any help offered. Thanks in advance

You should also check voltage to the pump when it dies. Has anybody checked the pressure regulator? It really sounds like you have a bad pump. Even though it is new, it has all the symptoms of a bad pump. That rarely happens, but still possible.

Check this out----
my old pace arrow did the same thing once--
mud daubers had stopped up the Tank vent line---I took a wire to it---got a lot of dirt out---then decided to cut it off as far back as I could---yes it was stopped up---added new hose--ran fine---I put a piece of screen over the end---never had the problem again--
rich in Va,
