I have a friend who has a Dutchman tent trailer with a small Dometic refrigerator. It is a three way frig. It runs fine on AC power but on gas it will not get below 50 degrees. I have cleaned flue, burner is clean and the pilot has a blue flame. The regulator at the propane tank has just been changed, but not sure if the gas pressure is right. If the pressure is off, would that cause this problem? If so how can I adjust the pressure, I do not have a meter to do that. Does this sound like a gas pressure problem?
If this fridge is old enough to have a non electronic set up, in other words you have to light it it may not be going to high flame. But thats a guess. We need to know model of fridge to guess further. Good Luck

First step,Remove your fridge off the motorhome.
Second, if you dont trust me, dont do :
just put upside down and upside up the fridge for 30 to 40 times.
The ammoniac inside the rear "serpentin" is not circulating good. After a few upside down/up you will hear the liquid passing ok in the tube. TRUST ME!
While outside the motorhome, clean the burner.

Trailer has a Dometic RM 2601 fridge. It went out last weekend. Strong ammonia smell. Trailer is parked in seasoal lot. I would like to remove fridge. Can you provide a checklist on removal of fridge?
If it works on electric, there is nothing wrong with the cooling unit so turning it upside down would be a wast of time but it wont hurt anything. The problem is with the gas system. New regulators are properly set. This leaves the Jet, the Burner and the Flue. Since you have cleaned the burner, remove the jet and wash in alcohol, air dry with low pressure air. Inspect with a jewlers loop- be sure no derbis remains. The jet is the most probable cause. Good luck WH
Seems all youse guys missed the point, the strong smell of ammonia indicates there is a leak in the coil, good luck, I have my 2601 out of the trailer and looking for a rebuilt coil but prices are 450 -550 w/o shipping. My problem is trying to get the coil off w/o having to rip apart the burner assmbly. Mac
