TAIL LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS ERIC DRENNEN 8-11-08
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY I DONT HAVE TURN SIGNALS AND TAIL LIGHTS...I DONT HAVE PARKING LIGHTS EITHER...THE HEADLIGHTS WORK BUT EVERYTHING ELSE DONT...THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE IMPUT...
Re: TAIL LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS bob 8-12-08
First step is to check your fuse box. Most likely this is where you will find your problem. If a blown fuse is there replace it with the SAME 15 or 20 amp fuse. DO NOT PUT A BIGGER ONE IN. If the fuse then blows again, you have a short. Most of the shorts I find are where the new wire was added for towing a trailer or toad. Those not being connected properly and or a wire not wrapped by electrician tape correctly.
A question for you...does the motor shut off when you turn on the lights? If this happens then check the grounding strap. Located under the right front usually. If it has come off then the unit will not opperate the lights or turn signals as such. Good luck.

Im so over this rv...I live in knoxville and out of money to fix anything...I paid $5000 for this 1983 33 foot winnebago chieftan and it has more problems than i first thought...If anyone wants to offer me $4000 for it i'll gladly sell it to them. And yes it has a very clean title. or willing to swap for a full size conversion van that runs well.

The grounding strap is usually under the right front side of the motor area. It is a strap connected to the frame and the motor. If you can not find it, then just go to the auto parts store get a new long one and attach from the oil pan ( one screw/bolt) and to the frame someplace. This should cure the problem.
